Karl-Joerg Moeckel, Executive Director of the Heidelberg Institute, is originally from Schlema, State of Saxony in Germany. Between 1988 and 1995, he studied Theology at the University of Leipzig, graduating with a university degree which is equivalent to a graduate degree in Theology.
Between 1995 and 2011, he first started his pastoral license for the State Evangelical Church of Saxony, and became a pastor of the Anskar Church in Hamburg and Leipzig afterwards. In 1997, he already started a real estate/property management company called recta.via in Leipzig. In 2015, he opened another office in Stuttgart.
Karl Möckel is a member of the executive committee of the German Association for the Advancement of Economics and Ethics, and a member of the businessmen's club Sprinter Club (associated with tempus Consulting).
His passion is for church entrepreneurship, and thus, he started netChurch, an online plattform for house church models.
